What to expect?
This Leash Skills - Handling & Manners class is a 2-session refresher for Teams who have taken any of our FIT-Foundations (Level 1 and up) or C.L.A.S.S. programs.
The goal is to provide you and your dog a structured, controlled environment to practice some of the skills you have already been introduced to, for better communication and more enjoyable walks at both ends of the leash.
NOTE: Because this is an 'open' refresher course, Teams will be at different stages in their training and skill level, which provides a great opportunity to watch and learn from others as well as help others learn
We will also practice the following skills:
Settle on your mat and 'Place'
Auto-Watch
Engage-Disengage
Look at That
Wait
Stay
Come
Requirements
Dogs should be healthy, injury-free and parasite-free
Proof of current vaccinations uploaded under Pet Info & Vaccinations
Take a picture and upload that or contact your vet and ask them to email a PDF version and upload that
Vaccinations should show your dog's name, vaccinations give and the DUE DATES (these are the dates we enter into our system)
Dogs should have successfully completed FIT-Foundations Level 1 (or higher) and/or any C.L.A.S.S. program
Dogs should not be fearful of new environments, other dogs or other people
Please book a 45-minute virtual session which may be followed with more virtual sessions OR in-person private sessions (group classes may or may not be the eventual goal)
Dogs should not be aggressive or overly excited, excessively barking, i.e:
unable to function around other dogs/people
They are over threshold (unable to learn when they are in this state of mind)
We need to help them by managing the environment and limit the distractions, so they CAN learn.
